Eta Lambda Zeta Chapter

Charter Members: Josephine Crowell*, Elsa Hill*, Norma Holstein*, Carol How*, Barbara Steen*, and Georgia Parker.

Eta Lambda Zeta Chapter was chartered Oct. 31, 1971 at Selfridge Air National Guard in Mount Clemens, Mich.. The chapter was started by a group of local sorors who were wives of the Selfridge base airmen and schoolteachers.

 

The organizer was Josephine Crowell (deceased), a past Great Lakes Regional Director (1974-1980) and the first chapter Basileus. She also chartered a Minnesota chapter in the 1970's. The charter members were Elsa Hill (deceased), Norma Holstein (deceased), Carol Howze (deceased), Barbara Steen (deceased) and Georgia Parker (living).

 

Under the leadership of Grand Basileus Isabel Herson, Regional Director Effie Burford and Michigan State Director Marie Clifton, Eta Lambda Zeta began the journey that leads us to this day.

 

Eta Lambda Zeta hosted the 1982 48th Great Lakes Regional Conference under the leadership of Edna Metoyer, Basileus.

 

Over the years, Eta Lambda Zeta has held Finer Womanhood program- honoring local women in the Macomb county community. Hosted numerous of programs and events that involve providing services for the undeserved populations: Women, Children, Men and Seniors. Programs and events we have held: Adopt-A-Road, Meals on Wheels and Eldercare, honoring our women and men veterans, wreath across america, back to school supplies drive, presentation at local churches and many other community service projects. Scholarship Fundraisers: Bowling for Books.
